Carbon footprint – what if I don’t have one?
When the field is mandatory and how to get reliable values.
For most product groups the carbon footprint is currently optional. For batteries it is gradually becoming mandatory; the EU defines the calculation method separately.
- Rather leave the field empty than enter an estimate without a basis.
- Ask your suppliers for existing life cycle assessments or environmental product declarations (EPD).
- Always state the method and system boundary (e.g. “ISO 14067, cradle-to-gate”).
